I have been rewriting the article rather extensively in the past few days.
Sources: For the moment I have been using Hennequin and Cunat as sources. I am aware that both are 19th-century writers, whose purpose is at least as much to write a Golden Legend for political purposes as it is to write an accurate history. I am trying to extract only factual statements from their texts and to keep the Wikipedia article as dry as possible (in this respect I have serious misgivings towards the French-language equivalent of this article). I have more serious and modern books underway that I will use later to refine the article but under the present sanitary circumstances their date of arrival is uncertain.
Length: There is also a balance between details and overburdening the page that is not easy to find. There are lots of details to add to the articles about the ships, places and people mentioned in the article, and the specific articles about the various battle could often use a rewrite to
Battle of Grand Port standard as well.
For what is meant to be an encyclopaedia this is a very slovenly piece of writing. I started reading and ended up correcting. It's easier to spray typos around than to clear them up.
