A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's

dugout canoes have been found at the bottom of
Lake Phelps in
Pettigrew State Park (pictured), a
North Carolina state park named for
J. Johnston Pettigrew, a hero of the

This article incorporates essentially all of the information we could find on Pettigrew State Park, so if there are missing topics or details, we are not sure they can be found. The semi-automated peer review script has been run on the article and it finds several apparent errors which are not actually there (as noted). I believe that this article meets the criteria for GA. Any feedback on it will be greatly appreciated. I will seek to make any changes requested. Dincher 19:27, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I have reviewed this article according to the requirements of the GA criteria and have placed the article on hold at this time until the following issues are addressed:
Altogether, the article doesn't have many problems and is close to GA status. The article has some great pictures, but could use a few more. If you have any questions or when you are done with the above issues, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. -- Nehrams2020 03:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Since the above issues were addressed, I have passed this article according to the requirements of the GA criteria. Continue to improve the article, making sure that all new information is properly sourced. I reworded one of the sentences in the intro since it sounded a little redundant of a prior sentence and also removed an extra period. The new pictures were a great improvement. To anyone that is reading this review, please consider reviewing an article or two at WP:GAN to help with the large backlog. Instructions can be found here. Keep up the good work, and I hope that you continue to bring articles up to Good Article status. If you have any further questions about this review, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. Happy editing! -- Nehrams2020 04:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
When I was checking the article for mentions of the Scuppernong River, I noticed the introduction made no reference to the river and the acreage listed did not match up with official documentation. The park's offical acreage includes lands around Lake Phelps and the Scuppernong River, but it does not include the water area of Lake Phelps. Lake Phelps is technically a separate but dependent state park unit, called a State Lake. Pettigrew State Park manages the state lake, but it's not a part of Pettigrew State Park, per say. I wasn't sure how best to describe this in the article, but I made some small copy-edits to the introduction, which might be adequate. Also, I cited the park's and lake's current sizes; the overall management size is the sum of the two.
