How can I add a device in the input/output section? I don't see all the parts listed when I click on "edit"
i don't think that computer hardware should be merged with computer peripheral, however, peripheral device should be merged with computer peripheral, and peripheral should be deleted or rewritten.-- FranzSS 03:11, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't think computer hardware should be merged with computer peripheral as a peripheral is a class of hardware or an accessory to a computer. Nor should anyother article such as CD-ROM, CPU, RAM, or harddrive be merged with a computer hardware article. -- 70.127.160.246 ( talk) 20:08, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
This makes sense. As it stands the articles are fragmented and confusing. -- MST64 03:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
put some new links, put paper bibliography, put it on a talking list to proposed deletion or contact the authors for a 2nd revision.
I personally believe that computer hardware should be left alone and computer peripheral and peripheral device should be merged between the input device and output device articles. The peripheral device article deals with the concepts of monitors, mouses, and the such, so therefore it should be combined. Icestorm815 19:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Icestorm. Computer hardware is a seperate topic from computer peripherals; the articles are entirely different. This article does a great job of listing the components of a computer system, and should be left on its own. -- Nemilar 04:01, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
I think that peripheral and peripheral device should be merged into this article based upon the central theme of this topic and the sparsity of information within those articles. This article needs some organization and redistribution of information and is too PC oriented. Softtest123 13:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Computer Hardware is in general "on-board", and peripherals are "off-board" or outside of the "main frame" of the computer. But, on the other hand, as time has shown, what at one time could only exist as a peripheral has slowly but surely been integrated on-board. I completely agree that the two peripheral articles should be merged, and I think people might reconsider the option to merge them both into this article since peripherals are basically a subset of computer hardware on the whole. hardware: hardware is the physical part of the computer computer parts: 1.input 2.output 3.memory 4.control
Shouldn't this all just be moved back to computer hardware, and remove the word "personal" wherever needed? Frankly, after this move it only makes it more apparent that we're missing a whole article on general computer hardware, and this article is just about close enough to it that it makes sense to just say "computer" instead of "personal computer". After reviewing what this article is trying to do it seems apparent it is a list of sorts.
It looks similar to these Featured Lists:
If there are no major objections to this direction I will come back to start us moving toward a Featured List. § Music Sorter § ( talk) 06:29, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
