Types I-IV

My younger sister was diagnosed with this defect. There is no mention of the fact that there are multiple types of Truncus. I know there is at least four, but I am not knowledgeable in the differences between them. 24.213.101.206 04:15, 5 November 2007 (UTC) reply

I have added a section on the classification. -- Arcadian 05:20, 5 November 2007 (UTC) reply

Nomenclature

There is some controversy over the naming of this condition. It is also known as "Common Arterial Trunk", as the truncus arteriosus is an embryologic structure.

See: Morphogenetic considerations on congenital malformations of the outflow tract. Part 1: common arterial trunk and tetralogy of Fallot. MM Bartelings, Adriana C. Gittenberger-de Groot

I'll be adding a redirect page here from Common Arterial Trunk, and including hte alternat title in the first sentence.-- FunkyDuffy ( talk) 16:42, 27 July 2011 (UTC) reply
