This article has been given a rating which conflicts with the
project-independent quality rating in the banner shell. Please resolve this conflict if possible.
The article should also mention that the highway passes through the area of the
Tillamook Burn, a major forest fire (actually, there were several blazes, spaced a number of years apart but in the area). A sign near the summit reminds people to be careful with fire. Up until the '70s and maybe even the early '80s, one could still see evidence of the fire (charred stumps and the like). In fact, I'll add a brief mention of the fire to the article.
