From the intro to the Sasaki subsection, I have deleted: "has become a symbol of world peace citation needed" since there has been no corroboration for years and since it's a vague, unsubstantiated statement anyway.

I have re-removed part of a section that was removed a month ago. It stated cranes are given to cancer patients in the West "(usually when terminally ill)". The whole sentence is unsourced (but seems reasonable to me) though the part I removed is weasel words and uninformative. I can't find evidence stating that cranes would not be given to non-terminal cancer patients, and hence I don't see it as a pertinent statement. Dabizi ( talk) 06:19, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Could this article expand on the pre-war history of the thousand cranes? Did it become popular because of the girl at hiroshima, or was it already a widespread practice in Japan? when did it start? ( ProfessorBaylock ( talk) 21:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)).
