Glad this article was not deleted, even though it languished without content for several years. The subject is not my area of specialization, but from some quick searches it seems that there is significant material for an encyclopedic article (the 2 sources I cite alone provide interesting stories). It appears that much use of "object lesson" in relation to teaching is on sites that deal with Christian religious classes - this would merit some treatment in the article. Another consideration is how to handle other uses of the term that are not in the context of the classroom.-- A12n ( talk) 07:07, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Should this article be renamed to object lesson (teaching)? Or should the "distinguish" template try to mention the other sense of the term, which doesn't involve a physical object in a classroom helping pupils learn about a topic, but rather a specific scenario that serves as an example of a principle or moral? http://www.thefreedictionary.com/object+lesson I don't think that merely having the Wiktionary template is enough to help reduce the realistic probability of confusion.
