Would be helpful to have a list of the NICUs in the US similar to the list of Children's Hospitals in its Wikipedia article Melisse May ( talk) 22:11, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Melisse_May
The current article states that newborn babies were displayed in public while in incubators until 1931. It continued quite a few years after that. In 1933 and 1934, premature infants were taken from mothers by the Chicago Health Department and displayed in incubators at the Chicago World's Fair in a large exhibit operated by Dr Martin Couney. Visitors were charged 25 cents to view the babies. Again babies were publicly displayed at the New York World's Fair in 1939. Dr Couney displayed babies in incubators all over the world. [1] [2]

Speaking of history, I notice this recent edit has changed the "world's first" NICU from Vanderbilt to Yale-New Haven. It would be very interesting to see supporting references. So far I've only found Design for Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care. Basie ( talk) 23:04, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
