I just did an edit (without logging in). I removed many (at least 20) incorrect uses of italics. Several band names were italicised (which is incorrect), but not all of them (which is inconsistent). Some song titles, and the name of a TV show, were also in italics (instead of quotation marks). Fixing this was tedious, and I wouldn't want to do it again.
The reason for this comment is, I also removed a sentence of text:
I removed it because, in the first place, it's basically opinion. The source note links to a site where you can actually listen to a show from the tour, but whether the sound is "dense, bluesy", or centers around Moogy's work, is still a matter of opinion. I left that source note in, because it's still an excellent source for the remainder of the paragraph.
Secondly, the majority of the sentence ("... presaged the two very successful live albums ...") isn't relevant. Yes, Lou Reed had two hit live albums. But they have nothing to do with Moogy Klingman, the subject of this article! He wasn't on them, and they sound drastically different from the Lou Reed band Klingman was in. So, no offense to the contributor, but it's just pointless. It's like saying:
There's a difference between "presage" and "predate". The Klingman version of the band merely predated the Hunter/Wagner version that had success with Rock 'n' Roll Animal and Lou Reed Live.
This is no knock on Klingman; he was a fantastic musician and songwriter. As is Lou Reed.
I am definitely over-explaining this deletion of one sentence, because I would hate to see my edit simply reverted. If somebody strongly believes that the sentence I removed belongs in the article, please, just *add the text back.* Don't REVERT and bring back all those instances of incorrect italics. I'm not looking for an edit war. Just add the sentence in a new edit, and maybe say a word here about why you did it. Or not. I don't care. I started out to fix the italics, and noticed what looked like POV while I was doing it. That's all. The person who wrote that sentence contributed an awful lot of good work to the article, and I'm not slamming him at all. I don't like to delete anyone's writing, and thus I feel compelled to explain why I did so. -- Ben Culture ( talk) 05:51, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
