The MODIS data processing chain should also be described.
The short version of the story is, roughly:
(But note that while the scheme outlined above is linear, the actual processing chain is more like a tree, with, e. g., some of the L3 products being all about atmosphere, and thus requiring no MxD09 processing. There're also much more products than mentioned above.)
Unfortunately, I cannot provide appropriate references just now, aside from Математические технологии оперативного регионального спутникового мониторинга характеристик атмосферы и подстилающей поверхности ч. 1. MODIS, which I co-authored.
Also of significance are:
PS. File naming conventions should also be described.

It says in the article it had a design life of 6 years and began in 2002, so I'm guessing they made something to supercede it. -- I'ḏ ♥ One 05:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
@ Tony1: If an article were to be created for the relevant type of spectroradiometry, then I would be more swayed by your move rationale. While the current title is now apparently consistent with Wikipedia's style, I'm not certain this is actually intended to be descriptive title; it is the name of the instrument. This is especially pronounced upon examining the information page here. It reads "Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer" with capital letters starting each word, and curiously, it also neglects the hyphen. Is this worth discussing? @ Dustin V. S. and Tony1: The official name is "Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer" according to NASA: [1]. Furthermore, this article is about a specific sensor instance, not a generic type of sensor. Can we agree to rename the article? fgnievinski ( talk) 16:07, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
The move log shows:
Just to clarify, the 7 April 2018 move did not just revert back to the 26 December 2015 capped (proper name) title; it also removed the hyphen. Is that the intent? wbm1058 ( talk) 09:34, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
The reason Tony1 was able to move the talk page but not the article is that Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer has history from previous moves and double-redirect fixing. Thus an administrator is needed to make the move (unless you make page-mover swaps that I'm generally not keen on). I can do this, so there's no need to take it to WP:RM#TR.
The talk page wasn't started until June 2007 so doesn't have that page-move history. – wbm1058 ( talk) 09:56, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Done Page moved to
Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, and the article and talk pages are back in sync.
