Explanation of issue: I have a conflict of interest in that I work at UCLA's chemistry and biochemistry department. My supervisor would like me to update Dean Garcia-Garibay's Wikipedia page by adding an awards and honors section. Prof. Garcia-Garibay is the Dean of Physical Sciences and a professor in organic chemistry at UCLA. Thank you.
References supporting change: Prof. Garcia-Garibay's CV [1]
Hello
Wikijg, for your reference you only provided the "Garcia-Garibay-CV-June-2019.pdf" not a full URL. In order for the information to be verified a complete link the PDF where the information is located is needed.

Thank you, I probably should have mentioned this earlier, and I apologize for not doing so, but this list is quite extensive and probably not of interest to the average reader and therefore probably not worth including its entirety. I think the following list is likely to be meaningful and worth noting. It excludes things like internal awards from UCLA, temporary professorships, and lecturing, which aren't really worth mentioning, see English Wikipedia's policy on
due and undue weight for more details:
ACS Cope Scholar Award, 2015
NSF Creativity Award, 2009-2011
Herbert Newby McCoy Award, University of California, Los Angeles, 1999
Dean's Marshal Award for the Division of Physical Sciences, Univ. of California, Los Angeles, 1997
NSF Career Award 1996-1999
Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2009-2016
Appointment to the Chemical Sciences Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology, 2012-2015 and 2015-2018
The Editor's Apprentice has suggested a compromise edit. When the COI editor is ready to proceed, if they could kindly change the {{
request edit}} template's answer parameter to read from |ans=yes to |ans=no, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Hi! I apologize for the delay in my response. Thank you for your edit. Would it be possible to have the following instead?
(For Awards and Honors)
ACS Cope Scholar Award, 2015
UCLA Diversity and Inclusiveness Award, 2013
Inter-American Photochemical Society Award, 2013
NSF Creativity Award, 2009-2011
American Competitiveness and Innovation Fellow, 2008
Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 2007
NSF Career Award 1996-1999
Can we then add two sentences in his education section? The first sentence would go after the second sentence of the paragraph and the second sentence would be the last sentence of the paragraph.
During his undergraduate years, Garcia-Garibay received the Fellowship for Undergraduate Research sponsored by Syntex of Mexico, from 1981 to 1982.
While in graduate school, Garcia-Garibay received the University Graduate Fellowship from the University of British Columbia (1986 to 1988).
Can we also add in another section titled "Professional Activities" with the following paragraph?
Garcia-Garibay was a visiting professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry in the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2008. Following that year, Garcia-Garibay became a visiting professor at the Department of Molecular Engineering in the University of Angers, France, in 2009, 2010, and 2012. Garcia-Garibay was soon selected for the Appointment to the Chemical Sciences Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology between the years of 2012-2015 and 2015-2018; he was also the Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society from 2009-2016.
A couple things before I respond to your suggestions, first, please read up on the guideline regarding
indentation on talk pages. Second, I would also like to say that English Wikipedia has strict policy against sharing accounts, which you can read about
here. The reason I bring this up is because you ended your most recent edit saying "we completely understand". Whoever wrote the first post stating "I work at UCLA's chemistry and biochemistry department. My supervisor would like me to update Dean Garcia-Garibay's Wikipedia page"or whoever created the account initially (if they are not the same person) should be the only person with access to the account
Wikijg and should be the only person who uses the account. If multiple people currently know the password to the account one of the two (or the one person) who wrote the first post or created the account should change the account's password and then not tell anyone else what it is in order to maintain the use of the account by only that person. If you are already the only person who has access and uses the account I would recommend to avoided using "we" in your talk page posts to avoid similar confusion in the future.
In response to your requests, I am unsure why UCLA's Diversity and Inclusiveness Award is worth mentioning on the page. If I understand the award correctly as primarily being a reward based on García-Garibay's Mexican nationality and not on any particular academic achievement or research conducted by García-Garibay then it is not notably worth mentioning because most readers are likely more interested in García-Garibay's academics, since he is likely primarily known as and discussed in the article as professor. The Inter-American Photochemical Society doesn't appear to a particularly large or well known organization, in contrast to, for example, the ACS, and that is why I don't its award is worth mentioning. If you can provide evidence that the Inter-American Photochemical Society is actually prominent that I would be willing to include its award. I agree that listing the 2008 American Competitiveness and Innovation Fellow is appropriate, looking back I'm unsure as to why I didn't list it in my reply of what I was willing to consider. The same is true for the fellowship at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. I'm not sure why it is worth mentioning the short term fellowships from universities from the 80s since I assume they primarily consisted of economic support from the university while García-Garibay studied. Again, if this is not the case, please explain why with some evidence. I am willing to create a section title "Proffesional activities" that includes the Associate Editorship and the Appointment to the Chemical Sciences Roundtable as I said previously. As to the visiting professorships I am unsure the reason why they stand out beyond García-Garibay's usual duties a professor in terms of their prominence.

Thank you for the guidelines! And I apologize for the confusion. I am the only one in charge of this account. I said "we" before because I was brainstorming with my supervisor about suggested edits at the time; but, I am the only one who comments/suggest edits/uses/does anything involving Wikipedia. I will avoid using words like "we" from now on. I still have much to learn but thank you for your patience.
I am okay leaving out the suggested edits you mentioned. Can we still add in the ones you approved, however? Such as the 2008 American Competitiveness and Innovation Fellow and the Fellowship at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Thank you very much!

Hello again
Wikijg, couple quick things, first you don't need to add colons before your reply, I only had some between the paragraphs of my reply because of the problems that not doing so can cause for screen readers as noted
here which is only something that I myself learned very recently. I've some changes to the page, please take a moment to look at them and see if they correspond with what you would like.

Hi EA, thanks very much for the tip and for the update on the page. It looks good! Could you also add his photo? If possible, can you add this one?
Also, Miguel was recently selected to be a 2019 Fellow of the American Chemical Society [1] Can you add this to the Awards and Honors section if you think it's worth mentioning. Thank you very much!

I can only add the photo if it is explicitly stated to be under a free license by whoever owns its copyright, which is required for nearly all images on English Wikipedia. If it is not currently under a free license you can go through the process explained
here in order to upload it for use. I can't seem to access the page that you linked to regarding the fellowship, it seems to continuously load and never finish or give me an error. Is it possible that you mistyped the link or that it is private to some extent? I would also encourage you to use the external link formatting of [https://example.com Example text], which renders as
Example text, or alternatively [https://example.com], which renders as
