I can't find any citation of miau in Latin outside of Wikipedia. There's also a discussion at Disputatio:Onomatopoeia, pointing to Animalium soni, which has nau. Ms7821 ( talk) 16:19, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The Ancient Egyptian word for 'cat' was 'meow', and I think this should be mentioned in the article as a possible origin for the supposed onomatopoeia. CessnaMan1989 ( talk) 14:27, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

What is the purpose of the table with the onomatopoeias in different languages? It looks like something that belongs to Wiktionary:meow § Translations. The table there is missing some of the languages mentioned here. If someone knows them, please add the translations to Wiktionary. – MwGamera ( talk) 15:07, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
Meow is the onomonopeia for cat noises, it can be pronounced just as it is spelled, me-ow. Kstanley1 ( talk) 19:59, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Should this alternative spelling be worth mentioning in the lead? From what I looked up it seems to be a rather dated and chiefly British spelling. Evaporation123 ( talk) 20:22, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
