I think a meadow can also be natural grassland, i.e. neither field (definitions say a field is for agricultural purposes and artificially bounded I think) or a pasture (used for grazing). A meadow would then also be a biotope.

Surely this is harmless and sourced. It helps explain why in agriculture a meadow is associated with mowing. Indeed I believe the Middle English medwe is cognate with mow. Itsmejudith ( talk) 08:14, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
I added some references, and edited some of the sections a bit. I removed the tag about needing references.

Some of the images are showing "pastures" rather than meadows. According to the definition there is a difference between the two with Pastures being used as grazing land whilst Meadows are specifically not grazed (usually to provide hay or alternatively for honey production). WDYT about removing the images which do not match the definition? B A Thuriaux ( talk) 07:53, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
This article is about a geographical/ecological subject that both isn't unique to the UK or even that common in the UK. While regional definitions and such may be beneficial if put in their own categories, making this page primarly a UK-centric page is outright bias. There are more hay fields in the United States than in Britain and if an American made this page as slanted towards America as it is towards the UK, then their edits would've been deleted and they probably would've been banned for not being neutral.
This UK bias is common in too many articles and it needs to be fixed. The UK is an irrelevant has-been country of history and not the gatekeeper of the English language or western knowledge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.152.59.39 ( talk) 16:36, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Good morning, fellow Wikipedians! For my college course, I plan to edit this article over the course of the next few weeks. After reading through Meadow, I noticed some information on the article does not coherently communicate the purpose of this article. Over the next few days, I plan on reorganizing information for the purpose of having a logical flow form idea to the next. I would like to provide an outlet for more scientific information to be displayed. I will not be posting the edits till later in the week, but I plan on working on the edits in my sandbox here: Meadow Sandbox. If anyone has questions, ideas, advice, or anything, I would love to connect with you about them. Thanks! Rmj17 ( talk) 16:58, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
I have been processing finding a different organization to help categorize the topics more efficiently. I am considering looking at adding a cultural significance and human intervention section to replace the "Cultural, Semi-cultural, or natural?" section. With the changed titles, I believe there will be more room for scholarly articles to incorporate more research and information. Any thoughts or ideas on this change? 165.91.13.112 ( talk) 15:42, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I oriented this sandbox with a suggested organizational change. Please take a look at my sandbox. To summarize the changes, I altered the organizational format to provide more avenues for scientific information to be placed. The changed formatting allows readers to travel the article easier and follows the Wikipedia guidelines. I would like to post the changes to Meadow tomorrow morning, so please extend feedback and ideas! Rmj17 ( talk) 19:12, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi, we are three students at Uppsala University who are editing this article as a course project. It is not entirely finished yet, but please take a look at my sandbox. We significantly extended the article mainly with regard to potential impacts of climate change, we also slightly extended the general definition, the part to agricultural meadows, and added parts about tourism impacts and urban meadows. If you don't have issues with the edits we would incorporate them over the weekend. Jonathan UU 19 ( talk) 20:26, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
This article mentions dry meadow. If a clearly identifiable concept, then maybe to a standalone article? Estopedist1 ( talk) 13:36, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
I propose creating a new article that separately expands on the topic of urban meadows. This meadow typology has become increasingly important and common and deserves to be categorized similarly to other meadow subtypes. More recent articles such as Urban wildflower meadow planting for biodiversity, climate and society: An evaluation at King's College, Cambridge , Air phyto-cleaning by an urban meadow – Filling the winter gap, and Sowing wildflower meadows in Mediterranean peri-urban green areas to promote grassland diversity as well as reviews like The Role of Nature-Based Solutions in Supporting Social-Ecological Resilience for Climate Change Adaptation will help to build this new standalone article on Urban Meadows. Anyone have any thoughts about this? PlantNerd1002 ( talk) 19:55, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
