The proposal was posted on October 18, 2007 and remained for five days, and the merge occurred after a five day commentary period in which no one opposed the merger.
I changed the Ireland text from"same as uk" as the uk section had limited offers which did not apply to Ireland.
Reallly?
Did these really debut in 2001? I swear I remember having these in Japan and that was in 1998 and 1999.

Just checked Usenet-
here's a reference to them in Disneyland in 1997. And
here's a McDonald's newsletter with a 1998 date. OTOH, the trademark was registered on December 19, 1997, and that application shows the first use in commerce as October 31, 1997.--

Thanks for that. I just knew 2001 was too late.

Vandalism by SEC IP Address:
Someone from an SEC IP address (162.138.184.71) vandalized the article back in September deleting the McControversy section as well as the paragraph saying that the McFlurry ice cream product is extended with methylcellulose. Could this be an attempt to improve McDonald's PR? It was then reverted but the paragraph about the ingredients of the McFlurry was left deleted. If you go down the history of this article there are numerous anonymous edits making the article more like a corporate advertisement. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia! I'm sure this sort of stuff goes on a lot at Wikipedia, but I wish we could just investigate and find out who is behind such blatently nefarious edits.

Lead and Variants sections
I'm posting with regards to the lead section, which currently reads
The McFlurry is a brand of flavored ice cream distributed by the international
fast food restaurant chain
McDonald's. It was first introduced in 1997.
I restored an edit which expanded it to the below, before it was reverted to the above.
The McFlurry is a brand of flavored ice cream distributed by the international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's and first sold in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada in 1995. In the U.S., the McFlurry was first test-marketed in 1997 and was rolled out nationwide in March 1998. It was then introduced to restaurants in the UK in 2000.
I'm not too familiar with all of the Wikipedia policies, but is there a reason to favor the above version over the below, when the latter is more detailed and sourced?
Likewise, I added the below to the Variants section, which was also removed. I would like to know the reason for the removal of this content, as none was given in the edit summary.
In February 2020, a limited time Oreo Shamrock variant was released in the United States.
In November 2020, McDonald's Australia released a limited time Donut Ball McFlurry. The same month, a Sea Salt variant was released in Malaysia.
Per the cited, reliable source provided, the McFlurry was first introduced in 1995 (in Canada) and was made available across North America in 1998. The 1997 date is incorrect unless we are referring to its regional test-marketing in the U.S. specifically, rather than either its first available date anywhere (which, absent any further qualification in the text, is what any reader would conclude "first introduced" means) or the date when it became a nationally available product. There's one editor who seems very opposed to fixing this information and gives vague, nonsensical justifications on the talk page for reverting it anytime it's added in; I'm hoping we can move past that now.
