Probably grduated from Virginia State University
The article says "Virginia University", which seems on first glace to most likely be the University of Virginia. However the University of Virginia appears to have been exclusively white in enrollment at the time, so it is unlikely that Lu Palmer was a student there. On the other hand
Virginia State University is an HBCU.
