I want to add Yoshi's Island 3D for the Nintendo 3DS but I don't want to mess up the columns and rows. Can someone please add this to the "Main series" because it was just announced during yesterday's Nintendo Direct. (

I don’t think it should be called List of Yoshi video games because it’s just trying to tell you a list when it’s actually an article about a video game series that needs more info.

@
MetricSupporter89: Good point. Just to clarify, you're asking that the page should be titled "List of Yoshi (series) video games"? I think that would help remove ambiguity from appearing as if the list is meant to be interpreted as "List of video games featuring Yoshi". I do think that the italicized font of Yoshi in the current title helps enforce that it is about the series and not the character's name, but either way works. As is or changed to your suggestion. --

Wait, are you asking the page be moved to "
Yoshi (series)" or "
List of Yoshi (series) video games"? The second is not appropriate MOS, so it's out. I would only support the first if the sourcing is there. In other words: Do sources discuss and comment on the Yoshi series as a whole? Currently there are no such sources in the article. If sources cannot be found, a list is more appropriate than a series article.

Ah
TarkusAB, I think you read his question correctly. After rereading, I think he wants a page like other series' pages (your first suggestion) instead of a somewhat boring list. That's 100% preferable, just have to have someone who has the gumption to do it. :) --

I like series articles too but they aren't always 100% preferable to lists. You need sources that talk about the series, otherwise the article is just a collection of comments about the individual games.

TarkusAB Fair point. I guess I'm assuming that provided enough sources and someone wanted to do the work, I'd imagine most people would prefer to read a page about the series than a near-stub list of the games. Pages like the Super Mario series are able to list all of the games with a timeline, giving a much better historical picture and the reader can see all of the games on one screen (in the timeline) and can scroll further down to see how each game contributed to the series. While I suppose this list could just add that content, the other approach looks more encyclopedic and readable than a directory like this is now. --

Series articles are completely different things that require more content about the games' general mechanics and reoccurring characters and such. You can create such an article if you find the content to add to it, but usually lists like this exist separately from such articles. Lists like this article exist for many game series, and are not by themselves "Unencyclopedic" or "Missing content"(see
Category:Video game lists by franchise, or even
Wikipedia:Featured lists#Video gaming). Blake(

Aren’t we going to put the move request template on the article now? I think we’re getting consensus to move it to Yoshi (series). So I’m pretty sure the move request template needs to be put.

We're not getting consensus. Blake and I oppose the move, you and Bchill support it. That said, you can always place the move request template to start the move discussion officially, as right now this is an informal discussion.

I'm having a really tough time figuring out what this guy is asking. Not sure if it's the English or I've taken one too many Wikipedia articles to the head... I don't think this article should be moved as it is. If Metric (or anyone) would like to revamp this page up to something along the lines of
Super Mario series, then I'd give a huge thumbs up, congratulate the work, and recommend that the page be moved. If that's not the intent of this page, then this shouldn't be moved and a
Yoshi series more akin to the Super Mario series page should be made in the future whenever someone has the gumption to make it. This page we're talking on should not be moved in its current state though. --

This page is in no way a series article, and should not be renamed or moved as such. If a series article is wanted, it would be a separate thing from this list, which functions fine on its own, as I said in my previous comment. Metric should take a look at existing lists, such as for
Wario and
Donkey Kong, and look at the difference between
List of Kirby media and
Kirby (series). Blake(
