Changing of the term "colonies" to "provisional chapters"
At the 2016 Grand Chapter in Norfolk, VA, the decision was made to change the term "colony/colonies" to "provisional chapter(s)". The title of this page should be moved to reflect that change.

The title of the page should be changed to say "List of Alpha Sigma Phi Chapters, Provisional Chapters and Interest Groups." This change is reflected in the archives minutes on page 13: [1]LouisManigault45 (

The chapter list has been improved, adding a reference column and updating dates to the DTS template (which allows better use of adaptive readers). EFNs, or Explanatory Footnotes have been added where the information comes from Baird's but without a specific cited reference. These show in the Note section. The main references have been added; these are shown in the Reference section.
To do
Some closure dates remain in question, and should be clarified by HQ staff if known. Review by staff for errors is always appreciated.
Dates of first installation, rather than year, may be added, following the examples of Alpha chapter and Beta chapter. Alpha Sig does a great job with its chapter history profiles; these dates of installation are in the grey text at the top of each chapter history section.
If errors are discovered, updates to the Baird's Archive would be welcomed.
Add a clarifying note in the body text at top, indicating the difference between a "chapter" and a "provisional chapter". Needs definition.
Add a location field, for the city and state, after the School column.
As to the edits made, where there is no predecessor organization listed, it may be understood that that group came from a colony, now called a provisional chapter.
