COI

The COI is being discussed at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. Rees11 ( talk) 23:43, 16 June 2009 (UTC) reply

I apologize for not following the proper procedures I was only looking to update the page and had no intentions of creating any sort of conflict. If acceptable I would like to recommend the following modifications:

Slogan - Law. From a Business Point of View Notable lawyers and alumni - John P. Frank Offices - Silicon Valley External Link - Remove LawPeriscope profile

Thank you for your consideration in these edits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JillD1771 ( talkcontribs) 23:38, 18 June 2009 (UTC) reply

There in fact is no discussion of the Lewis and Roca page at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. Moreover I see no difference in tone or content between the Lewis and Roca page, which is flagged with the COI, and the page for another Phoenix law firm, Snell & Wilmer [Snell_%26_Wilmer]. The COI flag should be removed. 68.227.248.156 ( talk) 02:00, 15 July 2009 (UTC) 14 July 2009. reply

The discussion has been archived. The article still needs sources but the content contributed by the COI user seems to have been reverted so I will remove the tag. Rees11 ( talk) 11:30, 15 July 2009 (UTC) reply

History

Please add: “On September 1, 2013, Lewis and Roca LLP and Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP officially combined forces to become Lewis Roca ‎Rothgerber LLP. ‎ Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons was established in 1903 in Denver, Colorado, by classmates Ira Rothgerber and Walter Appel. Rothgerber was one of 15 graduates of the University of Colorado School of Law class of 1901; Appel graduated the following year.

Rothgerber & Appel, as the firm was originally named, remained a two-person firm for more than 30 years until Ira Rothgerber Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps in 1935. A year later, Rothgerber Jr. served in the war in the South Pacific. During his military career, he rose to the rank of colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also represented an American soldier in a celebrated court martial that later became the subject of the major motion picture, Death of a Soldier. Rothgerber’s work in the case ultimately contributed to the development of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. [4]

In 1959, the firm hired Bill Johnson, who succeeded in securing IRS letter rulings exempting bank holding companies from personal holding company status, launching a new structure for community bank ownership that is now widely used by banks nationwide.

Jim Lyons, who joined the firm in 1971, was added to the firm marquee in 1998 in recognition for tremendous contributions to the firm’s commercial litigation practice, as well as his service as Special Advisor to the President of the United States and the Secretary of State for Economic Initiatives in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

In 2009, Lyons was appointed Ireland's Honorary ‎Consul in the Denver Metropolitan area by Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Micheál ‎Martin T.D.” [NOTE: these additions account for the significant historical milestones of legacy Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons.]

After “Miranda v. Arizona” please add: “which resulted in the Miranda rule, a warning given by police in the United States to criminal suspects in police custody (or in a custodial interrogation) before they are interrogated to preserve the admissibility of their statements against them in criminal proceedings. The warning prevents self-incrimination in violation of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

Please add: “served as” after “In 1971, the firm also…”

Please remove citation “[2]” – this is an outdated page that is no longer live on our website.

Practice areas: Please add “national” before “practices” and “litigation” before “bankruptcy.”

I've closed out the Request Edit for now, as it looked like most of the remaining items were not edits I was going to make. It's important to keep in mind that the article is about the firm, not its employees individually. Rankings and lists should be avoided in most cases per WP:ORGAWARDs, except one prominent market-share ranking, as is already in the article. Everything in the article needs to be supported by a source, typically a credible, independent one, but most of the proposed content does not have a source offered.
