Is there a reason this isn't at "Lesser Black-backed Gull"? Vicki Rosenzweig 14:17, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Umm, isn't the back a bit pale in this photo? (A herring gull maybe?) cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 09:18, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
The bird in the main picture is a Yellow-legged Gull L michahellis! Ruud Altenburg
There was a reference on this page to WikiProject Spain, which doesn't seem to make sense, so I have removed it. MJD. 82.30.249.52 09:21, 22 September 2007 (UTC).
At the Northern Sea in Germany there are colonies of Larus fuscus (intermedius?) as one would expect, since this race lives in Denmark and the Netherlands (source: Encarta 2008). 85.178.221.197 ( talk) 18:39, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
I saw a few of these flying around Edinburgh city centre last month. Is this (urbanism) a common trait? If so it could go in the article, but I won't do it based on half a dozen birds in one city. Totnesmartin ( talk) 22:37, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Could someone who is certain of what they're doing please organise the Description section, beginning with structured descriptions of the adult bird (sexed if required), any variants, and the juveniles. After that, it would help to have comparisons with similar species in distinct subsections. The material about the complicated taxonomy of the herring gull / lesser black-backed gull complex doesn't belong in the Description at all and might perhaps be merged into the Taxonomysection. The article on the European herring gull looks better organised than this one and might help as a pattern. Thanks.-- Frans Fowler ( talk) 06:09, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
