What is the current status? Hcobb ( talk) 13:24, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Just thought I'd report that reference 2 leads to http://www.modernluxury.com/san-francisco/story/the-indictment-against-leland-yee-puts-the-wires-clay-davis-shame That is a dead link. It's backed up on Internet Archive though: http://web.archive.org/web/20190109033743/http://www.modernluxury.com/san-francisco/story/the-indictment-against-leland-yee-puts-the-wires-clay-davis-shame Thanks BeAuMaN ( talk) 22:06, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
The fact that Leland Yee is a convicted arms trafficker needs to be mentioned at the start of the article. It is irresponsible to neglect this. CessnaMan1989 ( talk) 17:27, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
In 2015, Yee pleaded guilty to felony racketeering charges for money laundering, public corruption, gun trafficking, and bribery, right? That's sufficient for the first paragraph. – Muboshgu ( talk) 17:33, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Reopening this topic; I made a similar edit to the opening sentence a few minutes ago without having seen this discussion, and it was reverted by Muboshgu. Sorry for missing the talk page here.
With the benefit of three more years, it's become even clearer that Leland Yee's only notable legacy is his leading role in a corruption scandal that continues to reverberate in San Francisco's government. He only appears in modern news coverage in the context of his corruption. Search in the SF Chronicle's archive or Google News and you'll only see mentions of the investigation among the most recent results.
Back in 2021, when this discussion kicked off, the opening paragraph read this way, as edited by Muboshgu:
Since then the "In 2015..." sentence has been removed, and now the first mention of his felony plea comes after two paragraphs of anodyne political-career history. I suggest we go back to the first paragraph text as quoted above. ViaJFK ( talk) 22:55, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
