OK, so I've moved the previous content to its own article. I think its more appropriate that the card game itself be here, both because the card game is simply names Legend of the Five Rings and all the other products are based off it. I don't actually play, so this is still a stub, and so are the related products. Hope someone can fill in. -- Netoholic 02:33, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Content has been added. Will finish Rokugan article and add content there shortly. -- X-G 14:02, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC)
This article should primarily deal with the essence of the game. Going into too much detail about rules and card types, etc, has little to do with this, and doesn't help people who just want to know what it is. Instead, I think this page should contain more emphasis on the overall concept of the game, the history of the game, major competitions, the way the game influences the story, and a treatment of how the game is published (ie a base set every two or three years, with an expansion every four months or so, with the odd promotional set). I don't feel qualified to take this task on myself, however. Apart from anything else, English never was my best subject. This is just a suggestion to those individuals who have taken on the mighty task of writing a Wiki article on L5R.
I mainly used a lot of cues from the M:TG page, which does go into some rule detail. This is by means comprehensive rules. I admit that I'm not very good at writing overviews and I tend to go into a lot of detail. Anything related to story should arguably go in the Rokugan article (which I was supposed to write, too, but never got around to). I'm open to more things about major competitions, the history and so on, but unfortunately I'm not in a situation to write much about that, as I don't attend these competitions (I'm not a US'ian) and I wasn't around in the early days of L5R. There is already a section on how it is published; if you want to add information on how often those sets come out, then just edit it in. That's what the wiki is for. Yes, rules change, although the new sensei rule change is probably the most dramatic so far. I hope it's not going to happen a whole lot in the future (what happens to the Temples now anyway)? Oh, and please sign your talks. X-G 14:49, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I could try writing the general sort of overview I was talking about. I don't want to just go in and do it without your agreement, as it would involve deleting much of your hard work. I don't want to get into an edit war over it, and so I'm only offering suggestions. Mark O'Brien 23:33, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Well, it looks like this really hasn't been changed since August. I was a little confused as to why the L5R CCG was occupying the "Legend of the Five Rings" entry by itself. The argument that the CCG is named Legend of the Five Rings is a bit insufficient since that is the name of the RPG as well. It seemed instead that this would be a good point to introduce the setting and all of the games that are based upon it -- the CCG, the RPG, and the D20 version -- rather than monopolizing this page with rules of the card game. The CCG details have been added -- greatly unaltered and in their entirety -- to the new Legend of the Five Rings Collectible Card Game page. I will be spending some time working on this page and the RPG page, fleshing out the details. After that, if things go well, I'll probably move on to the stub-filled Rokugan page. I don't want to step on anyone's toes with this one, but I simply can find nothing to back up AEG gaining a license to use the interlocking rings for any amount of time. Admittedly, I can also find no official press release or FAQ mentioning it either way, but everywhere that the incident is mentioned, it is said that WotC was forced to change at Spirit Wars, and mentions nothing of a prior contract with the IOC (including the semi-official Intro on Zen Faulkes' site, which seems to be the closest thing to an official word on the matter). If anyone feels the need to correct me or to change it, please include a link to an official AEG or news site where you found your information. Otherwise, I will probably change it back eventually, for exactly these reasons. WestonWyse 17:58, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)
This temp page was loaded on meta.wikimedia on 13:08, 15 November 2005 220.245.178.137 (Introduction and character archetypes) and later modified by 220.245.178.140. It was deleted from meta, since it has no relation with its content. Is there anybody willing to see if some of its content can be integrated in the article? Or rather, I tried too. If I divided the conversiontions wrongly, let me know, or better yet, fix it. Kairos ( talk) 07:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
It obviously influenced the game? Kairos ( talk) 07:58, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Meridian Games - has been down for over a year, might want to lose that link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.18.235.137 ( talk) 13:36, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
This article doesn't mention who the original authors or creators of the game were, just the current development guys. Shouldn't there be something here regarding who originally came up with the idea? - st_gulik - st_gulik@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.40.238.163 ( talk) 17:53, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Looks like Alderac doesn't publish L5R anymore? Is Fantasy Flight Games the new owner/publisher? [1] DP76764 ( Talk) 13:57, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
