Anyone else think that Kandalf also bears a strong resemblance to the TSR's old wizard logo from 1978 to '80 ?

Actually, yeah, I was about to say! He's just facing the other direction and a bit more stylized! I think the move from Kandalf to Konqi is more likely from this, the TSR similarity. Besides, Gandalf is not a Tolkien creation, but a dwarf from the Norse mythology.
