Either way I'm trying to keep with the style consensus, which is that a single blue link should be at the beginning and it should be the same as the article it points to.
I agree that monotypic stuff is difficult. My thinking was, "kerria" is the common name for a plant Kerria japonica and it's also the name of a genus Kerria. So if you're looking for a genus of plants <click here> and if you're looking for a plant <click here>. But I agree, it's a little confusing if you expect a page on the genus and all you find is Kerria japonica.
