WP:COMMONNAME applies here. Both the
league and
local media do not use the apostrophe in the name, especially since Tornado's is grammatically incorrect (it isn't a belonging apostrophe as in "Tornado's basketball team" or "Tornado is" apostrophe, although I think the plural for tornado is tornadoes so it is still wrong). And now the team website has updated with "Kansas City Tornados Web Page Coming Soon!". So the only actual use is their
social media account, which is not considered a reliable source. Wordmarks are not necessarily official names as they can graphically be anything the want (like inserting a small tornado), otherwise, we could have lots of teams in all capitals. From here it is just a more of "wait-and-see" if it shifts one way or another.
