He was stationed MCRD San Diego in 1968-1969! We had the Honor to serve with Gunny Howard in 68 and My Bride to be L/Cpl Loretta Walter and Myself CPL John Gordon Became good friends with him and invited him to our wedding on Nov,27,1968 but he gave us his regrets as he was called to Washington DC for a MOH Conference with Joint Chiefs and the President! He was more than a HERO he was a friend! We were upset with him when he went back to Vietnam for another tour in 1969 and after handshakes he gave us Hugs and promised us he would come back but his troops and duty called him back to Nam! That was Gunny Jimmie Howard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
