Can anyone explain why the article suggests that Walia was promoted to
air marshalbefore becoming "senior air staff officer at the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command". This seems unlikely and none of the sources say so.

MPS1992: The article reads On being promoted to the rank of air marshal, Walia served as the senior air staff officer at the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command, so I think he was not promoted to air marshal before but as he took took over as the Senior Air Staff Officer. Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: Yes, that is my understanding of what the article as currently written means. Is there a source which says that he was promoted to the rank of air marshal at the same time as he became an air staff officer?
