There are several unsubstantiated claims in the article which is bordering on "fancruft"; e.g. "an Exeter City hero", "his positive attitude had long been admired", "A pacy striker", "well placed sources", "upturn in form". -- Daemonic Kangaroo ( talk) 13:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
The article mentions both Papua New Guinea and Dorking, England. Also his nationality is given as Scottish in the categories when it explicitly states he is not Scottish in the article. Which is correct? -- Iae ( talk) 16:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
His birthplace according to the official website of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, for which he now plays, has his birthplace as Dorking. Is this enough to substantiate and then to finally delete Papua New Guinea reference?? ( Rockyar88 ( talk) 11:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC))
He's not Scottish but when has that ever stopped anyone playing for Scotland? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.135.127.222 ( talk) 19:15, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
This phrase is worryingly common in these types of articles. It implies that he's a Scottish person, who plays football, but was born in England. That's clearly not actually the case. He's an English footballer who qualifies for the Scottish national team through a grandparent. Any objections to changing it to something like:
"James Charles "Jamie" Mackie (born 22 September 1985 in Dorking, England) is an English footballer who currently plays as a striker for Football League Championship club Queens Park Rangers. Mackie plays internationally for Scotland, a country he is eligible to play for as a result of his grandfather being born in Kilmarnock." Blankfrackis ( talk) 19:19, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
