there appears to be little extra value in having a seperate article for JM's toms, as distinct from the man. This whole article would make up no more than a sub-section on his main article. Ephebi ( talk) 13:14, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I just removed the following passage from the article, as it appears to me to be out of place. Perhaps some element of this could be restored.
A grandson of Alexander Hamilton named Laurens Hamilton was a Private in the 7th regiment of the New York National guard. The 7th Regiment arrived in Virginia on a ship called the "Ericsson." Which accompanied the "Jamestown" that carried James Monroe's body from New York to Virgina. The "Ericsson" ran aground and was immobile. A smaller ship called the "Glen Cove" took the soildiers from the "Ericsson" to the Virginia shore. The "Jamestown" carrying Monroe had arrived in Virgina at 8:30 in the morning. Days later Private Laurens Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton's grandson was found drowned and disfigured in the James river. Private Laurens Hamilton's watch stopped at 5 minutes to 9. It is believed he fell off of the "Glen Cove" because he had taken ill earlier in the day on the way to Virgina. No foul play was believed to have occurred. After his body was discovered it was shipped back to New York on the ship "Roanoke"
