Lawson was a prolific and influential author, including a study Bible in print for 50 years with Zondervan, one of the largest Christian publishers, as well as "Deeper Experiences of Famous Christians", which is a landmark text in renewal theology because of the unique biographical information that he provided. It is a unique contribution to the holiness tradition and theological literature because there are very few works that connect pre-1900 Christian history with the modern Pentecostal Charismatic movement. His influence is asserted by Dallas Willard and Winkie Pratney.
