I'm wondering if the information found within the World War One section should be moved to it's own seperate stub? After all, Royal Prussian Jagdgeschwader Nr. I (or JG I) doesn't really have any unit history connected to the World War II geschwader. Also, considering the extensive article already written on Manfred von Richthofen, it might make more over all sense.
However, I do think it's good to mention the pedigree of the Geschwaders. For example, Jagdgeschwader 1 "Oesau" does share a similar name as the "first geschwaders". And Jagdgeschwader 131 "Richthofen", Jagdgeschwader 2 "Richthofen" (both from WW2) and Jagdgeschwaders 71 "Richthofen" (from the modern Luftwaffe) do all share the same honorific.

Trouble is, 'Jagdgeschwader 1' is linked into several other WW1 articles so if split to a separate stub will we have to be change these links?- Im thinking of a reader's confusion not knowing the subject if he/she suddenly gets diverted to a WW2 unit history!

I agree with Harryurz in that there would be alot of erronous links - the only alternative is to create a disambiguation(sp?) page and have a separate JG1(WW1) and JG1(WW2) article. But then again the two units aren't the same, and to have them in the same article is not the best solution.

I agree that there would be a lot of work creating a seperate stub for JG I "Richthofen", but it's probably going to be a lot of work either way to properly incorporating JG I "Richthofen" into the JG1 "Oesau" stub. After all, none of the WW1 articles relating to Manfred von Richthofen, Jastas 4, 6, 10 or 11, or the Flying Circus "disambigious" properly connect to each other or to this current article. As a result, my biggest fear about leaving these two units together in the same article is that people will think they're related and get confused. Especially since the JG1 "Oesau" has it's information and emblem displayed. Just thinking out loud. Thanks guys.

Hmm yes you do have a point there. Actually I say we do this - Created JG 1 as a disambiguation page and create two separate articles. I will get on it tomorrow if nobody else beats me to it :) It'll be Jagdgeschwader 1 (World War 1) and Jagdgeschwader 1 (World War 2) then

Okay I have separated the two articles and added links on the main JG 1 page. If anybody else could have a look at it and make sure it makes sense the way it has been done, that would be great
