It seems that is his name. The NFL sites usually list it like born 'John Smith'. Has used LJ since xxx and it means Little John. (L.J Smith off the eagles).

I can't remember what his middle name is, but his first name is actually Jonathan. As soon as I can get access to a scanner, I'll Imageshack a picture from our 9th grade yearbook for proof.
