Well, he was born in today's
Canton Ticino at the border with today's Italy, around the date of the annexation by the Confederation, and he's stiled as Polish-Italian renaissance architect. He took part in the culture of Italian renaissance, as many other famous architects coming from Ticino (maestri ticinesi) who worked in the whole Northern Italy. So, I think that his figure may well be mentioned in the historical relations between Italy and Poland. He can also righteously be considered in the Swiss-Polish relations: cultural belonging is not exclusive.--

Being he from
Ponte Tresa in early 1500s, I also come to doubt he considered himself as being from Ticino. Probably the most correct denomination would be lombard, as by that time the notion of
Lombardy encompassed the whole
Po Valley, non distinguishing between local rulers. But I have no particular sources about this artist, so I cannot say with more precision. --

Soviet nulla osta to the talks is likely. Elections were part of the agreement, this does not necessarily mean that they would have been put in place as agreed. My sources are mainly from Italian diplomats (D'Orlandi's diary and Mario Sica's later report), so further contributions are welcome. BTW, I think that the whole Marigold operation would deserve a page for itself.--
