Why does this article have a gallery section? Of the two images, one is presumably of a magazine that can be found on Issuu, and the other seems to have no relation whatsoever to the topic in question.

Copyright infringement
I just found a digital copy of The Adventures of Phoebe Zeit-Geist on Issuu. I have my doubts about who posted it and whether they own the copyright. Issuu claims to take copyright seriously, but how can we tell if they are? and if we cant be sure, can we link from WP articles to Issuu, as is done with this book? im uncomfortable with using Issuu as a reference or even as an external link.

Advertorial
Is it just me, or does this whole thing sound like brochure copy? There are many citations, but the bulk of the copy is not cited. It looks like 13 citations are just referring to where Issuu was mentioned. Virtually all of the remaining article should be summed up briefly. Let readers visit Issuu's site if they want to read advertorial. Anyone else agree with this?

here's my attempt at a cleanup. I think i left the information appropriate for WP. to me, this kind of editing makes in more clear what the notability of a company is. when its promotional material, as a reader my eyes glaze over and i often dont get what they are actually doing because of the promotional tone. now i actually see what they are doing, and its obviously notable. still, i will try to find articles that address any copyright problems, as that would be a logical, notable event around this service.

Speaking personally, I find it hard to believe the Issuu software could have won any sort of award. I cannot imagine who perceives a benefit from poorly imitating a paper document in a Web browser. All it does that I can see is make documents much harder to read and cite. Reading information on, say, Wikipedia is vastly better. This article needs a "Criticism" section. If the product has received any significant independent coverage I have to believe some of it was by someone who can recognize an ergonomic disaster when they see it. --

This page is quite out-of-date, so I've drafted a version with revisions that make it more current and accurate. I'll post the proposed text below and any feedback will be welcome. Issuu was founded in
Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2006[5] by Michael Hansen, Ruben Bjerg Hansen, Mikkel Jensen, and Martin Ferro-Thomsen.[6]
By 2011, Issuu
software was used by several
online publications.[7] In early 2013, the company opened an office in
Palo Alto, California and appointed CEO Joe Hyrkin, formerly of
Reverb.com, Trinity Ventures, and
Yahoo!, to helm its
Silicon Valley operations.[8][9] The company soon moved its headquarters to the Palo Alto location.[10] Upon the move, the founders of Issuu stated that they chose the city as they saw social media and digital distribution partnerships as the key to its growth, rather than focusing mostly on publishing relationships.[1]
Also in 2013, Issuu acquired the Denmark-based software company Magma, including the company's software that allowed collaboration between editorial teams in organizing, laying out and proofing publications. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.[11]
In 2014 the platform hosted more than 18 million publications[12] and had 83 million users.[13]

Users can edit their publications by adding links and multimedia to the pages of their documents. Issuu also provides tools for measuring and monetization of content.
Readers can engage with free content, subscribe to publications[16] and follow collections of publications on a specific subject matter.[17]
In 2014, the company released Clip, a tool that allowed readers to take a snapshot of any part of a publication and share that on
social media or through
email.[18]
Also in 2014, Issuu released its iOS app to access Issuu on Apple devices. The
app included an offline reading list function that allowed users to read from the Issuu app without being online. The app could also stack publications back to back so that they could be read in succession.[19] The Issuu app was discontinued in April 2023.[20]
In 2019, Issuu announced the launch of Issuu Promote, an ad integration tool for
Facebook and
Instagram, allowing for content to be distributed across multiple social media channels.[21] A partnership with LinkedIn allowed users to embed a publications or portfolio materials into a LinkedIn profile.[22]
In 2008, Issuu was nominated for a
SXSW Interactive award. In 2009, the company was named one of Time's 50 Best Websites[25] and a Webby Award honoree in the Web Services & Applications/Website and Mobile Sites category.[26] In 2010, the company was a Webby honoree in the Apps, dApps and Software Experimental & Innovation category.[27] In 2023, Issuu was named Best Interactive Content Platform in the MarTech Breakthrough Awards.[28]

Spintendo, I thought I'd make this a little more manageable by addressing just a few edits or groups of related edits now and then moving to additional issues once we've settled a few things, either accepted or rejected.
I've included my suggested version of the introductory paragraph below. The current text is insufficient if the goal is to provide a brief but thorough summary for a reader who may not read the entire article. Here are a few examples of articles about software platforms that have what I believe are the types of opening paragraphs Wikipedia expects
Salesforce,
Slack, and
Zoom. Please let me know you thoughts about the best way to make this opening paragraph better for readers.

My second request for this post is about the section titled Purpose. Firstly, that's an odd section title that I don't recall seeing anywhere else. Secondly, none of the information in that section is cited at all. The information in that section that is true was included elsewhere in my earlier draft and I can make future edit requests that reincorporate the citable information. For now, I think the section should go since Wikipedia requires information be properly cited.

Spintendo thank you for the feedback on those points. I would like to take a second to address an error in the article that I haven't brought up specifically thus far. It is about the year the company was founded.
My proposed edits to the opening paragraph changed that from 2004 to 2006. Currently, the intro says 2004 (and cites to a source that does not mention any founding year), but the InfoBox and History section both say 2006. For accuracy and consistency, can we update the 2004 reference to say 2006? A reference for the 2006 founding date can be found at:

I'm starting a new section for this specific request since the section above is getting a bit cluttered. The "Purpose" section that follows the intro paragraph in this article seems oddly named and I think the article would be improved if the heading was removed and the text below it became part of the introductory paragraph.
I wanted to make sure the "Purpose" section was actually as rare as it seemed to me on the surface, so I visited several category pages for platform-type companies and checked the articles for those that seemed the most well-known. In almost all cases, a more robust intro (that describes what the platform does) is followed by the History section. None of the checked articles contain a Purpose section.
It seems a bit more encyclopedic to have a uniform structure across articles that discuss similar points of information about companies. To achieve that, I'm proposing that the "Purpose" heading be removed and the text below it be bumped up into the intro paragraph. I'm open to feedback from anyone, but tagging @
Spintendo since we've been discussing other aspects of the article. Thanks for the feedback and help.

SBCornelius: I moved the purpose section into a new products and services section, and indented the apps section. The lead is supposed to summarize what's in the article, so simply moving the purpose section to the lead doesn’t work. I'm also concerned that the source for the information that I moved does not substantiate the info. Users can edit their publications by customizing the design, using templates, or adding links and multimedia to the pages of their documents. isn't in the source. The article only mentions how the company matches readers to content, and utilizes social media links to spread awareness. The product text in the Wikipedia article is considered
original research, which is one of the reasons that connected editing is frowned upon. Everything has to be sourced. I’m going to come back to this when I have more time and see if I can fix it.

I have additional edit requests that would bring the article up to date factually, but I broke them into individual requests while working with the previous editor. If it would help provide context, I can repost them in a new section to clean things up a bit. Thanks again for helping with this.

SBCornelius - I edited the article, which included some of your requests but I felt is was important to rearrange the info to put the history in the history section. I put a sentence about the product in the lead, but not the whole paragraph. You may want to review the product info to make sure it's accurate, and come back with any edit requests. It's better to have a products and services section than one called apps. Also, please use the textdiff template format so I can see what you're changing, rather than showing me the new draft in its entirety. See how it looks
