Isaaq and Dir

There is controversy on whether the Isaaq constitute a stand alone clan or they are part of the Dir clan family. There are many reputable and notable scholars and organisations which have covered this issue. There is a big reason why the content explaining controversy should be kept. If you dispute this, please discuss here before you removed sourced content. Thank you. Shirshore ( talk) 22:26, 1 February 2019 (UTC) reply

The majority of reputable sources confirm Isaaq to be a stand alone clan. This is not new information and is echoed on Britannica. You are edit-warring across multiple articles currently, this style of editing is not looked upon favourably in Wikipedia and may lead to sanctions. Ok. If I provide reliable and notable sources will this information be added to the page? Am not arguing that some also don't consider it a separate clan family, am saying there are others who believe Isaaq is part of the Dir clan. I think this information would be useful to Wikipedia readers, because it would for example explain why the Isaaq are classed as being part of the Dir clan by the Somali government etc. Shirshore ( talk) 06:08, 3 February 2019 (UTC) reply
The question is what does the majority of reputable sources indicate? As @ Kzl55 stated, the majority of reputable sources indicate that Isaaq is a standalone clan. Promotion of minority views clearly goes against neutrality guidelines for Wikipedia. Koodbuur ( talk) 19:36, 3 February 2019 (UTC) reply

The Somali government classifies Isaaq as part of dir and this should be mentioned in the article why is it not Sahasu ( talk) 22:43, 19 September 2019 (UTC) reply

habar jeclo

In the clan tree section the Habar Jeclo tribe link keeps redirecting to the Isaaq page even though there is an article about the Habar jeclo.

The redirection should be removed and it shall link to habar jeclo article directly. Zaki199105 ( talk) 22:35, 24 January 2020 (UTC) reply

Isaaq are Dir and not Arabs

Isaaqs are not Arab, we’re Dir. The Sultan of Dir even listed the lineage of the subclans at a conference and Isaaq was one of them, plus Isaaqs take part in Dir Conferences. People have bent the truth to deny us our lineage and push us against Arabs which we have nothing to do with. This bogus lineage about Arabs is completely fabricated. The origin OF the Issaq tribe people are Harraris people, Sheikh Ishaaq bin Ahmed married a Harari woman and gave birth to the Issaq Tribe, not some local women Dir Women Somali.

They're supposed to belong to an actual people call Harari people not somali.

Issaq don't considered to be Somalis at all, Real Issaq ancestors were Habesha Harari people and I can also see Issaq speak different dialects of Somali which contains a lot of Harari loan words and Arabic as well. The capital Of Somaliland is Hargeysa means little Harari.

The Hararis moved across the Bab-el-Mandeb, settling in the shores of Somaliland Northern Somalia.

/info/en/?search=Harari_people

/info/en/?search=Isaaq

Northern Somali also contains many Harari loanwords

/info/en/?search=Northern_Somali

Ishaaq Bin Ahmed the founder of the Issaq tribe stated he married local Harari habesha women, not local from Dir women somali.

They don't have the same Y-DNA marker as other Somalis such as E3b1.

Issaq carrier Haplogroup T-M184 known as T-1 which came from the Middle East.

They also had their kingdoms such as Adal Sultanate and Isaaq Sultanate before the founder of British Somaliland and the unification of Somalia Republic in 1960.

/info/en/?search=Adal_Sultanate

/info/en/?search=Isaaq_Sultanate

In 1991 Isaaq were left Somali Republic union Due bloody ruthless Government dictator Of Somalia and not regarded them as part of somali.

They were badly mistreated by the Somali government in the past

/info/en/?search=Isaaq_genocide

Since issaq only inhabited In Somaliland not Somalia.

If Issaq is considered to be somali then why they carrier huge amount of T-M184 T-1 and not E3b1?

T-M184 don't consider to be a somali Y-dna haplogroup.

Their people are Harari, not Somali and being mistaken for Somali.

Note: Adal Sultanate was also inhabited Semitic speaking people such as Harari/Argobba people.

Issaq isn't part of the Somali people, and their Y-DNA is very different rest of the Somalis. They are Harris descended who adopted the Somali language, called Harari people, also the capital of Somaliland hargeysa means little Harari Harar as-sagir, meaning "Harar the little.
