Astonishingly, numbers for the troops on both sides are missing. The German numbers are 500 dead, 1995 captured, an unknown number withdrawn to the mainland of Italy. They add up to more than two bataillons. The allied invasion force seems weak by comparison. Some googling also leads to claims that 1100 French were killed. --

Having stumbled on this article, decided to see what citations I could muster, changed them to sfns as I only really know this format and found more sources than I expected. Will revise and expand later. Auto-edded and dupe wl scanned. Regards

@
Pbritti: before you jump to conclusions I suggest that you look at the article. I am re-editing the article based on more sources, it is a work in progress. I am slower than usual due to being a shift worker. It might do you good to ask first or wait.

@
Keith-264: I wasn't accusing you of anything, just noting that some of your recent edits (including script edits) had typos despite being labeled as correcting typos. I would also add some of your edits are labeled as minor edits even when they remove entire sourced paragraphs. I make typos a lot, so I understand that they happen. I was just worried that some of your edits might not be turning out as you intended them or that there was some other issue. I hope you continue expanding; I saw some of the work you had done was very substantive and was glad to read it! ~

If you had taken the trouble to look or ask, you would have seen that I took out that paragraph because it had become a duplicate, due to m[y additions] to the article hence it being minor. I don't do script edits unless you mean auto ed, which is not contentious. Thank you for taking the trouble to look further. Regards

There seems to be some significant misunderstandings occurring here. Please do not expect other editors to "ask" to edit a page—though I did ask first anyway, for what it's worth. Also, please see
Help:Minor edit#What to mark as minor changes for an explanation of why you should avoid marking edits that involve significant content deletion (even of duplicated content) as "minor". ~

I didn't ask you to ask permission to edit but suggested that you asked about the edits you found contentious, to save time and trouble - particularly your restoration of duplicated content.
