I agree this sounds like a hoax - but it most definitely is not. He was not a hoax, he did the hoaxing.

Yes, there are nuns in some Buddhist sects. Some shave their heads. Google "Buddhist nuns" and see. As for the article, it's not too far fetched. There's lots of wacky characters like this throughout history - especially the history of espionage. See Sir Richard Francis Burton, Sidney George Reilly, and Colonel Thomas Blood - and those are just the Brits!

Under section Death it is stated the Nazis ordered the Japanese poison Trebitsch-Lincoln after they invaded Shanghai in 1943 (sic). However, the Japanese had occupied Chinese administered Shanghai after a battle in 1937, then took over the Foreign concession territory of the port in 1941 - two years earlier. This needs checking.
