Varmapak, the expansion of INS is context dependent. It usually means "Indian Naval Ship",
[1] but "Indian Naval Submarine"
[2][3] and "Indian Naval Station"
[4] have also been used in different contexts. It would be inappropriate to include the generic expansion of "Indian Naval Ship", because submarines are referred to as boats rather than ships. However, the other expansion of "Indian Naval Submarine" does not have strong references to indicate that it is the expansion of INS when the prefix is used for submarines. So, it is better to leave that part out. —
