fabulous article, wiki at its best Can we add a sectin that shows a timeline , eg something along the lines of 0 Hours Quake strikes 4 PM 12 Jan 2010 local time - 0-24 hours 24-36 hours 37 man search and rescue team, with all supplies to be self sufficient, lands in Port au Prince 75.67.134.245 ( talk) 18:22, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Was splitting this off from the Humanitarian response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake really necessary? With making more and more articles all we are doing is making the reader have to click and navigate more.
Also, I think the map holds no value. There aren't any countries who have openly refused to give aid, it's just that we haven't heard from them. So this map seems like it's unfairly distinguishing between "pro-Haiti" and "anti-Haiti" countries. And it doesn't really tell the reader anything that he doesn't already know, the list of donating countries is just to the right of the map in the contents box. -- Tocino 19:07, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Concerning the map, people are free to interpret the contents as they wish. It's just a map showing who has donated and who hasn't thus far. If people wish to interpret the gray regions as countries who will never donate, ever, that is their prerogative. If they choose to interpret these gray regions as countries who might potentially donate at some future time but have not indicated their plans, that is also their prerogative. But you cannot draw a conclusion on how everyone will use this map based on *your* own interpretation. Also, in theory, you are right that it contains no new information, but it is nice to be able to have a pictorial summary of governmental donations rather than having to peruse a text-based list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.234.128.5 ( talk) 19:57, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Let's get it right. Monaco was omitted. Fixed. At least Finland was included.

A new article was necessary because large article sizes are necessary in those cases where single sections comprise a bulk of the material and debilitate gathering of information outside the scope of the largest section. Hence, if people want to know about the growing numbers of NGOs, for-profits and national governments contributing aid, then separate articles can provide pertinent indexes of such specific and detailed information, not a single big article. Thanks. -- Toussaint ( talk) 09:03, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Wasn't it the Iranian Red Crescent that sent the donations? Where they funded by the Iranian government? If not, then I don't think this is the right page for that donation
From www.alarabiya.net, the headline says that Saudi Arabia has donated $50M to aid Haiti. The link is in Arabic but the article's translation is as follows:
A spokesperson for Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced on Monday January 25 that the Kingdom has donated fifty million dollars in aid for Haiti after the devastating earthquake that occurred on Jan 12 and expected to have caused 150,000 fatalities.

I understand—and agree with—the use of national flags to help identify specific countries in a long list, but the use of subnational flags and even city flags on this article is irrelevant and inappropriate. This article is not a guide to world vexillology. — Andrwsc ( talk · contribs)

We need a piece in the Americas section about the Hatian governments own efforts (IE the peacekeeping work done by the Haitian National Police, the triage center and efforts of local hospitals, and the fact that many of the rescue operations were carried out by the Haitians themselves).-- RM ( Be my friend) 00:19, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

The title is ""..national governments..." But the article contains a lot of information about local counties, provinces, "regions," cities, boy scout troops....
All the non-federal, non-national aid should be deleted IMO. Or retitle the article "Humanitarian response by just about anybody...."
