The following is a closed discussion of a
requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a
move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Move to
Hubballi railway division. This discussion has gone stale, so despite the absence of any clear !votes, I consider this to be sufficiently uncontroversial. The comment from
Toddy1 is convincing that the form Hubballi is used for the name of this division. I am moving to a lowercase title to be consistent with others of the type even though this was not the originally requested title. (
non-admin closure)

Speedy close as not moved. You also started a move discussion at
Talk:Hubli#Requested move 20 August 2023 for the city named Hubli, which you asset should be moved to
Hubballi. As with this discussion, you merely asserted that the common name is the name you chose. Wikipedia move discussions should be made on the basis of evidence. In addition, the names of the city and the railway division are linked. It would make more sense to have one discussion that covered all the Hubli/Hubballi articles that would be affected by a move discussion. So please can we close this discussion - and later have a new move discussion that meets these points. (And if the proposer presents no evidence for the move, to it speedy close it.)--
Toddy1(talk)07:52, 26 August 2023 (UTC) The proposer has provided evidence in support of the move in response to the above post. So strikethrough has been applied to comments based on the lack of evidence.reply
Agree on point that both articles need to be corrected. But I am not sure if they are to be linked together. It is absolutely ok if city name is different than the railway station name or the division name, if ghey are referred so in common use. Eg Lucknow Charbagh station is called so though city name is not Charbagh.

Comment on evidence provided by the proposer. The evidence supports what the proposer says.
The Hindu link given as as evidence by the proposer calls it "Hubballi Division of South Western Railway".[1]
totaltraininfo.com calls it "SSS Hubballi division". It also uses "SSS Hubballi Railway Division", but the capitals appear to be because the term appears in the article title.[2]
I corrected the third URL provided by the proposed (and have informed him/her in their talk page). This calls it "HUBBALLI DIVISION".[3]
