True men don't kill coyotes is not one of the first songs (its actualy from 1984 when the band had jack sherman and cliff martinez). According to the DEMO tape that RHCP recorded in 1983, the first Chili Peppers's songs are: Out in LA, Nevermind, Sex Rap, Get up and jump, Police Helicopter, Green Heaven, Stranded, Flea Fly, You always sing the same and What it is (AKA NINA'S Song)
, being Out in LA and Get up and jump the first and the second.

"Under the Bridge" wasn't written about Hillel Slovak, "No Chump love sucker" and "Skinny Sweaty man" altough about Hillel, they where written while he was still alive! infact he played guitar on both songs. as a result I'll remove the Under the Bridge refrernce and rephrase the two otehr songs.
Hillel Slovak, if memory serves, did not die in a hotel room. He died in his apartment. Therefore the link to the list of people who died in hotel rooms is inappropriate.
He died in front of the Viper room
Out of all h\the pictures you could get of him, you get him and Anthony flicking off the camera. A little inappropiate...can someone change it? --

Israeli musicians?
"Slovak and Gene Simmons are the only Israeli-born musicians who became famous in the popular music market."
I strongly doubt that statement (at the least, it's too definite) but I don't know much about popular music, so I'm not going to remove it myself. --

The following are examples of items that need to be fixed to make this article more
npov
"It was seen as a wise career move..." in the Early Years section;
"because of his bad ass style...", "Unfortunately, What Is This? had also...", and "...was competent but lacked the soul Hillel put into everything he did" in Red Hot Chili Peppers section;
"Unfortunately, along with Anthony...", "He slowly descended into a drug-induced hell", and "his body could take no more" in the Downfall section
this song was not about hillel at all if you have read Anthony Kiedis's book 'Scar tissue' you would know that the song was written about the times when he was involved with the mexican drug trade and he would go on binges with them under a bridge in downtown L.A.
picture
can someone add a decent pic? i would but i dont know how to.
The bit in the article where is says that "Frusciante based a lot of his playing style on Slovak's work. Before Frusciante even joined the band he hero-worshipped Slovak and learned the electric guitar parts from the first three albums released by the band." This is true as I watched a documentary on the Red Hot Chili Peppers on MTV about 9 years ago and this was mentioned there. I've no idea what the documentary was called though. It was broadcast just after the RHCP had released One Hot Minute.
'Me & My Friends'
Hillel is referenced in this song pretty heavily, shouldn't it be mentioned?
death
at the top of this page in the second paragraph it says "He died in front of the Viper room" im pretty sure this claim is completely incorrect and it has been confused witht he death of another of anthony kiedis's good friend/mentors 'Rivers Pheonix'.
please correct me if i am wrong.
No I haven't watched the episode. There is no mention of the episode on the reference supplied. It may have been there once, but it isn't now. If you are citing a TV show please use the correct format as per {{cite episode}}, specifying the exact time that the statements appear.

Oh! I'm sorry. The link seems to have redirected to a general Behind the Music page. I will try to find the times that the statements appear in the episode.

Captioned, File:EarlyRHCP.jpg needs a specific fair use rationale for use in this article, see the notice on the file page. There is now a non-free FUR for this article, it is lacking for other articles that use the image.
