Was he born in Hong Kong, China or the British colony of Hong Kong? Just a thought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.147.198 ( talk) 06:52, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
What type of guitar does Herman Li use and also what altercations does he use like jumbo frets, filed down frets, and others.
"Li often struggles to play his passages live."
Can we get some kind of proof, citation, or evidence of this? -- K_R 16:56, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I wish they would stop pretending to be sloppy because of drink. NO ONE gets drunk on one Bud , honestly. Fan boys need to accept this —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.1.139.63 ( talk) 15:21, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
in our days. And yes, if you've seen the music video of "Through the fires and flames", believe me, YOU would have some comments!.... The first thing you understand is that his hands move/sweep so fast that it's even hard to follow. And, it gets really different when it comes to the "LIVE" version of their songs. Well, some says that studio version and the live version cannot be exactly the same. Yeah...yeah....it is true... however, does that mean that anyone could just record a sloppy guitar sound in studio - edit it perfectly and just...be one of the most well-known guitarists? i say no.....I don't mean that he sucks or anything but come on.. you could see his "sloppiness". It's there.. can't ignore it.
I've been wondering; is Herman Li considered a virtuoso? Personally, I don't think so at all. Has he actually demonstrated his virtuosity of the guitar? What would be required to be a virtuoso and would he fit the bill?
Thoughts? --Dayn 07:45, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
While I'm at it, compare him to the likes of Satriani and Vai. All three can play fast; but can Li match them in terms of compositional ability, improvisation, and technical mastery? As much as I like his playing, I can't say he's a virtuoso, just good at playing fast and fun. --Dayn 07:56, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. There is no way that Li can match ranks with guys like Vai, Shawn Lane, Holdsworth, Satriani, Petrucci, Gilbert, etc - Wade
Anybody can get up to speed on any instrumentmith practice which is exactly what Li did, he doesn't really have anything he is known for besides his speed but that is only because a single song of his was displayed in popular culture with almost every single one of those out there hearing this song never having heard the likes of Michael Angelo Batio and others. -- 68.177.37.202 ( talk) 17:42, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
All the harmony solos I've heard (which are a few) never deviate from thirds or octaves which are the most basic harmonies you can get, there are no polyphonic or contrapuntal textures in his solo either which ultimately means FAIL!!!
I removed the trivia section, as all it has is "Herman Li is oriental." which is blatantly obvious, given that it says he was born in Hong Kong, and it has his picture there as well. If there was something trivia-wise, go for it and add it. --Dayn 04:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Could someone explain what a "drum riser spin bounce" and a "whammy bar lift guitar slam" are? VikingofRock 01:01, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
is not in march it is actually october 1st. not sure what year —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.98.232.238 ( talk) 06:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC).
I was just at a Dragonforce signing, and I talked to Herman about the page, and he said "It's full of shit" and "lies". Specifically, he mentioned that he COULD afford a left handed guitar, but he CHOSE not to buy one. So yeah, should we change that or something? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.108.81.80 ( talk) 13:12, 11 May 2007 (UTC).
Isn't "harmonized solo" an oxymoron..? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.46.1.184 ( talk) 22:19, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Not neccesarily solos sometimes need to make sense which involves harmonising without harmony a guitar solo or any solo for that matter is just random notes that really don't make any sense at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.177.37.202 ( talk) 17:37, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Doesn't he use sweep picking and slides a lot too? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalocalypse ( talk • contribs) 15:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
i have to say DF is just like a hong kong pop band with metal background and essentials.sounds like early overseas cantonese style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.85.45.222 ( talk) 04:59, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I've never heard of a FockeWulf guitar, I only know it are german WW2 fighters. Removed this 'guitar'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.26.2.114 ( talk) 09:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Someone deleted the entire article... It should be restored or rewritten, so I restored it to the last version (with the full article) and it should be temporarily locked so this doesn't happen again.
The article, more specifically was replaced with "Herman Li sucks" and that was what was left of it, so I'll restore it to what it was. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishdert ( talk • contribs) 01:23, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Any citations or what? Somehow I can't believe a whole new style of metal suddenly appeared there. Anybody care to explain? -- 116.12.228.194 ( talk) 05:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
The video game music played in Through the Fire and Flames is not from Pac-man, it's from Mega-man. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.48.130.33 ( talk) 15:37, 18 February 2009 (UTC) =Well,on youtube, you could find some of the video clips of him interviewing. And he was the one who called that noise as "Pacman noise". So, if you're really bothered about the fact that it's not from pacman...? -_- well...i guess you could be like the only one who calls it a "mega-man noise" But probabaly nobody would bother to care. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.153.45.138 ( talk) 10:26, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Dragonforce isn't even close to black metal, so how is Li associated with black metal?-- 69.208.75.76 ( talk) 21:58, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
