"Hanging of the Green" versus "Hanging of the Greens"

I cannot believe that this is not a talk topic on this article.

How is the plural more grammatically correct? Even Wikipedia's own article on "Greens" doesn't include Christmas decorations: /info/en/?search=Greens Redbeard25 ( talk) 16:12, 27 November 2023 (UTC) reply
