Notoriety? Perhaps the most-famous groundhog in PA!

This article was tagged for the "lack of notoriety" of Gus. I am in no way connected with the Pennsylvania Lottery. However, I like Gus - and felt he deserved a Wiki page!

Gus is known throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, because of his ad saturation. He is also known in every neighboring state as long as a Pennsylvania television signal is available, and is known to more than 10 million people. The Philadelphia television market alone is the fourth-largest TV market in the United States, and reaches homes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, serving more than 5 million people.

There is talk among some Pennsylvanians that Gus has even passed Punxsutawney Phil in popularity, and a Facebook page has been made with such a suggestion (I am not connected with that page other than "liking" that page). [1] I e-mailed Franklin and Marshall College in January 2011 and suggested a Franklin & Marshall College Poll to see if Gus HAD surpassed Phil in fame. Dr. G. Terry Madonna himself responded to my e-mail, and he said that he thought it was a good idea for a fun poll, and was considering making such a poll in March 2011. Bill S. New commercial for Holiday 2015

I saw a new commercial with Gus just now. I wonder if it's a one-off or if he's making a return. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.14.94.193 ( talk) 23:13, 1 November 2015 (UTC) reply

Vandalism

I have protected the page for a month but there has been extensive and long term vandalism by multiple IPs. I suggest someone figure out what the last good version was and revert to it. That may be a ways back. - Ad Orientem ( talk) 01:57, 30 January 2020 (UTC) reply
