Took out the Sobers 6x6s as that happened on 31/8/68 - hence a SUNDAY and can't have been on Grandstand as Sunday Grandstand didn't start until the 80s. The Bradford fire also removed as ITV had cameras at the ground not BBC (John Helm was commentator).
I suspect there could be an issue with some other events listed there such as Jacklin's hole-in-one - someone needs to provide a date to justify that it happened on Grandstand. Seedybob2 ( talk) 16:40, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I am removing the six-sixes as being broadcast live, following this obituary to the producer who was on duty for Grandstand on the day. [ [3]]. This confirms that the game was only being broadcast live to BBC Wales viewers (and not specifically to Grandstand) during the early part of the day and was drifting to nowhere. John Norman had been asked to stand down by Grandstand at 4.45pm which would have been the time of the football results coming in. He only kept the camera running "just in case" - therefore they would not have been broadcasting live. It also goes on to say the film went into news broadcasts rather than was shown live. It may well have made it on to air on Grandstand that day as a recording, after the football results for instance. Its unlikely though as an uplink facility to the Grandstand studio would not have been set up if they had been asked to "stand down". Whichever of these previous two sentences is correct is probably unverifiable now therefore it can't go in at the moment. Mfb72 ( talk) 01:00, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Both these sources BBC News on this day and the Guardian] list the event as happening on 15 August 1971 which was a Sunday [4] - so couldn't have happened live on Grandstand - it may have been on live television, but not Grandstand which was only broadcast on Saturdays. I'm going to look into the original research and questionable verifiability in the "live events" section.
Its a terribly unreliable and unverified section. Mfb72 ( talk) 01:48, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone have details of the viewing figures for Grandstand (1958—2007)? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy ( talk) 08:11, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
