This is always known as the Golden Ears, period; the usage "Group" is a climbers' term only and to me, as someone raised within sight of these mountains on a daily basis, seems highly inappropriate and artificial. "Blanshard Range" is mentioned on the Richard Blanshard page but I find no mention of it in BCGNIS or Basemap; there are both a Blanshard Peak and a Mount Blanshard, with the latter redirecting here. I guess that's OK, the redirect taht is; but I don't like the title one little bit. Skookum1 ( talk) 05:05, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
This bothered me on first sight:
Fairley and Ricker aren't online but I question the validity of their sources, as this is clearly wrong to me; "Golden Aeyries" was a later emendation that the Geographical Survey dismissed; see "Golden Ears (peaks)". BC Geographical Names. and "Blanshard, Mount". BC Geographical Names.....the "ears", also, were meant to refer to donkey or mule ears; the earliest print reference on BCGNIS is to Lieut Richard Mayne, who cited it as an already known name; I don't know of any earlier reference to "Golden Aeries/Eyries/Aeries"....Fairley and Ricker are not reliable sources for historical information.
