Not always. My school marching band did, but we didn't use special shoes for it. At some band festivals, however, I've seen other techniques too.

Actually, some bands use high-stepping or kick-stepping for their marching technique. Marching Spartans (our HS) use roll-step, but I've seen one or two bands use the high-stepping technique.

who uses it?
it seems to me that although most high schools use glide steps, most colleges use a high step. does anybody know any colleges that glide?
