This version certainly differs from the current English version, at least in the emphasis, but I think to does expose the current intro as containing errors of fact. The Italian version decribes his first novel as unpublished, I can only conclude that the term "mostly unpublished novel" refers to extracts that may have appeared in the many collections of Verga's work that have appeared over the past half century. Should we simply describe it as "unpublished"? The other point, that is clearly an error, is that the English version appears to state that Verga used the proceeds from this unpublished book to publish his first work, when in fact he used money his father had given him for completing his studies. I think we can safely make that change.

When I edited the article just now, the draft was red-tagged because the Officeholder Infobox included a parameter that didn't belong: Movement. (Note that I am using upper case here for emphasis; the actual values are all lower case.) Movement is a parameter for the Writer Infobox template. And it makes me wonder why Verga gets the Officeholder template. He was an honorary senator for little more than the last year of his life. Almost his entire life was occupied with writing, where he made a significant mark. I may get back to this and change the infobox to Writer.
