Where is Tertholen - in the Caribbean?
Also, what happened in the attempt at colonizing Guyana? There is no mention of it after the opening paragraph. Funnyhat 04:44, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Regarding the paragraph mentioning Courland: Ok, the nobility in the Duchy of Courland spoke German, but did they consider themselves to be Germans? Don't forget that the Baltic German nobility of which Courland's ruling class was a part, served masters such as Russia and Sweden, and were considered loyal subjects by these countries.
I'm taking down the reference to Nicaragua in the opening paragraph. The source link only provides references about German inmigration in the 19th century, not colonization by any visible <<German>> authority "in the 16th and 17th centuries" as Wikipedia claims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.244.23.2 ( talk) 03:03, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Colonial Fantasies has a nice overview of German colonization. It mentions in passing schemes by Bavaria to work with the Dutch or French to settle Guyana in 1664 or '65. Be nice to have more... It also has more on the 'Little Venice' project. — LlywelynII 21:53, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
