George Jones (U.S. senator) → George Jones (senator, born 1766) – There are two problems here. One is that the "U.S." is unnecessary. Please see Talk:Arthur Brown (Utah senator) and Talk:Dan Sullivan (American senator) for other discussions of that issue. The other problem is ambiguity with George W. Jones, who was also a U.S. senator — BarrelProof ( talk) 23:38, 14 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 20:55, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
No mention of slave-owning. I feel that this category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself. Valetude ( talk) 12:38, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
The result of the move request was: moved. Also noting that "Georgia politician" is commonly used as parenthetical disambiguation for politicians from the U.S. state of Georgia, and changing that is outside the scope of this discussion. George Jones (U.S. senator) → George Jones (Georgia politician) – For disambiguation from George Wallace Jones, who was also a U.S. senator, and as a more typical and general disambiguation term than the role-specific "U.S. senator". This title was suggested in the previous RM discussion five years ago. — BarrelProof ( talk) 18:21, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
