Metroid Galactic Fed Soliers
Is it just me, or do the Federation Soldiers look a bit like the Spartans from Halo?
Seriously, it would make perfect sence. The cut scene depicting the soldiers landing on Aether and sending out forces, in additon to the battle where their base is overrun, seems like something from Halo.
It also, in way, sends that message that Samus is superior to the Master Chief. To quote IloveBeams:
There's only so many ways to put a suit of powered armor on a human. Pretty sure you could find several example of power suits which the Spartans' armor seems to copy. Anyway, there's a dead human soldier in Super Metroid, right in front of Kraid's lair, that wears armor(without a helmet) similar to what the MP2 Troopers wear. And Super Metroid predates Halo by several years.

One other thing, the federation troopers were shown in metroid fusion (released november sevententh, 2002) wearing the same armor. which was way before Halo was released (9 November 2004.) ghosty26 10:34, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Those were BSL employees in armored environment suits, not Federation troopers. They
had green bubble visors as opposed to the flat blue visors of the marines.
?
How is it a copy from Halo when Metroid Prime came out one year before Halo did.
As far as I know, we have no proof of where the Fed. HQ is. Heck, we don't even know if it's even a planet or a spaceship. But it is pretty likely, given how the majority of the military seems to be human. --

References to Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are made within the journal entries of the GFMC troopers in the North American release. The space colony in Super Metroid is apparently located on the asteroid Ceres, as well. Samus' birthplace of K-2L is referred to as an Earth colony in both Super Smash Bros. Melee and the e-manga, but I'm unsure of these sources' canon status. Most tellingly, the original Metroid manual (North American release) references Earth by name. If this is a correct translation, it is safe to assume that the series takes place in this galaxy. —Preceding

K-2L is in the Metroid Prime manual, too. It makes sense that Samus, a human, would be from an Earth colony, and it also makes sense that the humans that made up that Trooper squadron would refer to human mythology. The original Metroid manual is an interesting point, though, as is Ceres. The original manual does say the scientists were bringing it back to Earth... hmm.
I'm sure the Metroid series is supposed to be taking place in the Milky Way's future. It's just that humans aren't the only species out there. I'm sure it would be pretty easy for the series to fall into the old "WE TEH AWESOMES BECAUSE HUMAN" trap, though, and it looks like it might have, based on the original manual. Feh. --

Colony K-2l was where Samus grew up. Ridley and the space pirates destoyed it. that's when the chozo adopted her and infused her blood and gave her the power suit, just read the metroid manga:
http://www.mechadrake.com/metroidmanga.html this is the only translated copy I know... that, and if you read the original japanese metroid handbook the picture of the GF is clearly some form of space station... and why would the GF be on earth if humans didnt discover it until a couple years after their existence?

What are GF soldiers called? "Troopers"? "Marines"?
Can someone please tell me what sources call the GF soldiers 'troopers', and where they are referred to as 'marines'? I'm curious about this.
In Metroid Prime 2:Echoes for both. The "GFMC" Galactic Federation Marine Corp is referenced several times, including in the name of sections of the map and multiple logbook entries. As for "trooper" vs. "marine" it seems that "Trooper" is the word commonly used to refer to GFMC soldiers, it's used in all their descriptions(Like "Dark Missile Trooper etc.). They're only rarely referred to as marines. While I don't know about the scans that aren't recorded in your logbook, in those that are the word "marine(s)" appears only three times, including twice in the same logbook entry.
Dr. Lobotomy
I wrote up a complete history of the GF, and removed other Federations now that the article is bigger. Enjoy it. (

Do you have a source for any of this history? I'm reverting it back to an older version until such time as you cite your information. If you can cite a source, feel free to change it back.
I have read the game manuals and played the games. I also know that it's Wikipedia policy to list your sources in the article's bibliography. It may be tedious, but it provides readers the assurance that something written there isn't simple fanon.
Having searched the Internet, it appears that much of the history you wrote is true. Googling should be able to provide you with the text of the game manuals for citation purposes if you don't have them yourself. Sorry for the bother.
Hunter's "Ultimate Power"
From reading the MPH's talk page I got the impression that the "Ultimate Power" was a false message sent by Gorea to lure those who would be powerful enough to free him. MPH never says that the Omega Cannon is the "Ultimate Power". Unless I hear a response I'm going to change that line. -[[User:Mit kebes|Mit kebes] 14:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
And if you had played the game you would know the name is "Omega Cannon", not beam. Also it's "Ultimate Power" not weapon. Show me an offical source that says "the Omega Cannon is the 'Ulimate Power' and not a false message sent by Gorea" and I'll accept it. Unless you can prove that the Omega Cannon is the "Ultimate Power" saying so in the article is stating an opinon, and Wikipedia is meant to give facts, not opinons. Check the
MPH talk page and you'll find others who agree.-

Storyline Remarks
Great job with the GF page! but I cant help but see a major error! the storyline is as follows: Metroid/ Zero Mission- Metroid II: Return of Samus- Prime- Pime Pinball- Prime 2: Echoes-Hunters- Prime: Corruption- Super Metroid- Fusion. Please correct this, as Iam sleepy and dont know my way around Wiki that well, but very well the Metroid universe.

Okay, may I just ask, WTF. Where did this stuff come from. I'm pretty sure that none of the games had this stuff in it. So, unless proof is given, I'ma gonna edit it out.

I just noticed some of the information given in this section was incorrect, and took it upon myself to clean that up. It could still use a little more work though, as it seems to mainly focus on events that happen during the game, which are irrelevant to the Galactic Federation itself. If I have time I'll get back to it again, but if anyone else feels they can do a good job of it, feel free. :)

Technology Rewrite
I've begun working on a rewrite of the Technology section. I know the article is considered for a merger, but I figured if someone bothered to improve it it may improve it's chances of remaining an individual article. If any Wikipedia vets can help me out on the structure I should be using, it would be much appreciated...else I'll submit it to the hounds when I'm done. I should be finished in a few days.
